Preflight for catalog updates

See the dangerous changes before you import.

Compare your original Shopify product export with the edited CSV. ImportProof catches destructive blanks, variant-identity changes, damaged barcodes, and edits you never meant to make.

Run a catalog change preflight

Use a fresh Shopify product export as the original. Nothing is uploaded by this page.

3 What did you mean to change?

Anything outside this intent becomes a blocker.

The checker runs locally with deterministic rules. It sends no product, customer, price, or inventory data to us.

Why compare two files?

A valid CSV can still make the wrong changes.

Syntax validators ask whether Shopify can read a file. ImportProof asks whether the readable file still matches what you meant to change.

01

Intent lock

Declare that you changed prices, inventory, content, or another area. Changes elsewhere are immediately visible.

02

Before-and-after diff

Match product and variant rows by options, SKU, barcode, and position—even when one identifier was edited.

03

Shopify-aware checks

Flag included blanks, option edits, missing dependencies, invalid values, duplicate combinations, and spreadsheet-damaged barcodes.

04

Focused update file

Pro can keep required identity columns and intended changes while omitting unrelated columns that could overwrite data.

ImportProof is a preflight, not a guarantee.

Store configuration, apps, product state, and platform changes can affect an import. Always export a fresh backup and test a small subset before a large overwrite.

Practical guides

Questions

Know the boundary before you trust the report.

Do you upload or store my catalog?

No. CSV parsing and comparison happen in your browser. Standard hosting infrastructure can receive ordinary request metadata when you load the page, but your chosen files are never sent by this app.

Does a clear report guarantee a safe import?

No. ImportProof detects file-level risks it can determine from the two CSVs. It cannot see your live store, apps, locations, permissions, or changes made after the original export. Keep a backup and test a small subset.

Why use an original export?

The original establishes the values and variant identities you started with. Without it, a tool can validate formatting but cannot reliably tell whether a blank or changed value was intentional.

Is this affiliated with Shopify?

No. ImportProof is an independent tool. Shopify is a trademark of Shopify Inc.
